How it works
How this team step challenge works
Set a daily goal that suits you
Each teammate picks their own daily step goal. A lunchtime stroller and a marathon runner play the same game, on their own terms.
Hit it to earn a bolt
Reach your goal and you bank a bolt for the day. Miss it and tomorrow is a fresh start. There is nothing to catch up on.
Stack seven for a perfect week
Seven bolts in a week is a perfect week. Bolts build day by day, which is what turns a good start into a habit.
Travel a new stage each week
The challenge moves through a new destination every week, so there is always a fresh start and a new reason to rally the team.
Race for the medals
Teams are ranked on the bolts they earn, adjusted for team size, and compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Celebrate the finish
Winners are crowned and the highlights shared. On Coached and Annual, your Success Coach also hands you the impact report.
Scoring
Fair for every team
Go for Gold scores consistency, not mileage. A day only asks one question: did you hit your own goal? That means the person walking 4,000 steps a day can earn exactly as many bolts as the person running 20,000.
Team scores are adjusted for team size, so a team of six competes fairly with a team of twelve. Medals go to the teams whose people showed up most often.
Why it works
Five pillars, one game
Every GoChallenge format is built on the same five pillars. Here is how Go for Gold delivers each one.
- 01
Inclusion
Goals are personal, so a bolt is worth the same whoever earns it.
- 02
Motivation
Daily bolts give everyone a small win to chase each day.
- 03
Accountability
Every bolt counts towards the team score, so teammates notice when you show up.
- 04
Community
Weekly stages and medal tables give the whole company something to talk about.
- 05
Team Spirit
Perfect weeks, medal moments and coach shout-outs get celebrated together.

How long does Go for Gold run?
Go for Gold runs for 28 days. Each week is its own stage, so teams get a fresh start and a new push every Monday.
What is a bolt?
A bolt is the token a teammate earns each day they hit their personal step goal. Seven bolts in a week is a perfect week.
Do bigger teams have an advantage?
No. Team scores are adjusted for team size, so teams of different sizes compete on equal terms.
What if someone misses a day?
They miss that day’s bolt and start fresh the next day. Go for Gold rewards showing up often, so one missed day never puts anyone out of the game.
