How it works
How this team step challenge works
Set your own challenge target
Each teammate chooses a personal step target for the challenge, based on their own ability and lifestyle. Nobody is handed a number.
Move at your own pace
There are no daily targets. A quiet week can be made up the week after. The only deadline is the last day of the challenge.
Watch the team fill up
Teammates see each other’s progress as a percentage, never as a step count. It is easy to spot who could use some encouragement.
Bring everyone with you
Going past 100% does not add to the team score, so the best thing a fast mover can do is help a teammate get there too.
Closest to 100% wins
The challenge always runs to its close date. The team with the highest average completion on the final day takes the win.
Scoring
No one gets hidden
A team’s score is the average progress of its members, with each person capped at 100%. An over-achiever cannot make up for a teammate who is behind, so the only way to lift the score is to lift each other.
If more than one team gets every member to 100%, the tie is broken on average steps per team member, so bigger teams gain no advantage.
| Teammate | Personal target | Steps logged | Progress | Counts as |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alice | 150,000 | 180,000 | 120% | 100% |
| Carol | 120,000 | 120,000 | 100% | 100% |
| Bob | 100,000 | 85,000 | 85% | 85% |
| Dan | 80,000 | 40,000 | 50% | 50% |
Team progress: (100 + 100 + 85 + 50) ÷ 4 = 83.75%
Why it works
Five pillars, one game
Every GoChallenge format is built on the same five pillars. Here is how Leave No One Behind delivers each one.
- 01
Inclusion
Self-set targets and percentage progress mean nobody is compared on raw steps.
- 02
Motivation
A 28-day target is forgiving. A bad week is never the end of the road.
- 03
Accountability
The team only finishes when everyone does, so every teammate matters.
- 04
Community
Teams rally in chat around whoever needs a lift that week.
- 05
Team Spirit
Getting the last teammate over the line is the win everyone remembers.

How does a team win Leave No One Behind?
The team with the highest average completion when the challenge closes wins. Each member’s progress is capped at 100%, so the score only rises when more teammates reach their own target.
Can teammates see how many steps I do?
No. Teammates see your progress as a percentage of your personal target. Your step count and your target stay private to you, and other teams only see a team average.
What happens if I fall behind?
You can make it up. There are no daily targets, only one target for the challenge, so a slow week can be recovered later in the challenge.
Does the challenge end when a team reaches 100%?
No. The challenge always runs to its scheduled close date. If several teams reach 100%, the tie is broken on average steps per team member.
Can someone join after the challenge has started?
Yes. Late joiners set a target for the full challenge and can take their later start into account when they choose it.
